The ESP8266 ESP-01 Adapter is used for easier interfacing with the ESP8266 ESP-01 WiFi modules that can be used for wireless communications.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
ESP8266 ESP-01 Adapter with Voltage Regulator
Note that this is the adapter only. If you need the actual ESP-01+ WiFi module, they can be ordered down below.
KEY FEATURES OF ESP8266 ESP-01 ADAPTER:
3.3V Voltage Regulator
5V to 3.3V Logic Level Shifting
The ESP8266 ESP-01 are WiFi modules that can be used for wireless communications. They operate at 3.3V for power and require up to 170mA of current.
If you are using the ESP-01 with a 5V MCU, the current requirements are outside what an Arduino or similar MCU can supply directly from their small on-board 3.3V regulator. This adapter can be powered off of 5V-12V and supplies well regulated 3.3V to the ESP-01 socket.
It also provides level shifting for the TX/RX lines which is necessary for the safe operation of this module with a 5V MCU since the I/O of the ESP-01 is not 5V tolerant.
The adapter also provides 3.3V to the CH_PD pin. The RST pin is left floating which is normal.
The module has a 4-pin header:
1 x 4 Header (male)
RX – Recieve Data – Connects to RX on the MCU
TX – Transmit Data – Connects to TX on the MCU
GND – Ground. Connect to ground on MCU or separate power supply if used
VCC – 5-12V. May be powered off the 5V from the MCU or a separate power supply.
The adapter has a 2×4-pin female header that mates with the ESP-01 module. Be sure to observe proper orientation when inserting the module into the adapter as shown on the silkscreen.
